About MSU-Hurley Children's Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative

In January 2016, Michigan State University and Hurley Children’s Hospital formed the Pediatric Public Health Initiative (PPHI) to address the Flint community’s population-wide crisis and help all Flint children grow up healthy and strong.

PPHI is divided into five work teams: Child Health Development, Nutrition, Exposure Assessment, Health Informatics, and Child Health Policy and Advocacy. These teams work closely with the PPHI Parent Partner Group and the PPHI Flint Kids Advisory Group.

The creation of this Pediatric Public Health Initiative will give Flint children a better chance at future success. This initiative will bring in a team of experts to build a model pediatric public health program which will continue to assess, monitor and intervene to optimize children’s outcomes.
